Brno, Apr 13 (BD) – Twenty of Brno’s school canteens, which prepare special dietary dishes for their pupils (for example, gluten-free, lactose-free or diabetic-friendly meals), will receive a regular contribution of CZK 5,000 per month for 10 months.

“For the parents of children with a special diet, it is difficult to provide healthy lunches. In Brno, 20 schools have been preparing dietary lunches for their pupils for 2.5 years. For the cooks, this means extra work. They have to go through training and learn new practices; they have to cook the special meals in separate containers,” explained First Deputy Mayor of Bnro Petr Hladík.

The principals will use the funds as rewards for cooks preparing dietary foods, their training, purchasing professional literature, or purchasing kitchen utensils, City of Brno spokesman Filip Poňuchálek wrote in the official press release.

Specialists from Masaryk University have been helping to prepare special recipes.
