Learn Czech to a higher level this summer

Brno, Apr 14 (BD) –Summer is a beautiful season in the Czech Republic. The picturesque historical centre of Brno livens up with crowds of people: Czechs, foreigners living in Brno and tourists alike love to take advantage of the warm and sunny weather, enjoying the city to the fullest.

And what about when you want to take a break from your daily routine? Maybe investing your time in improving your skills and bettering your CV would be a good option for you!

The Department of Czech for Foreigners is organising the Summer School of Slavonic (Czech) Studies from July 21 to August 18, 2018.

The summer school includes a morning programme which consists of an intensive language course, seminars and lectures.

The participants will be able to choose from three types of courses:

  • intensive course for complete beginners designed for speakers of English or German;
  • a course for pre-intermediate students – two hours of basic Czech language study, two hours of conversation and a one-hour special course every day; lessons are in Czech;
  • a course for intermediate, advanced and very advanced students – two hours of language instruction followed by a one-hour special seminar dedicated to translation and stylistics, and two hours of Czech linguistics, literature, history, ethnography, etc.

The afternoon programme will offer “linguistics and literature seminars, lexical-stylistic exercises, seminars on interpretation of literary texts and informal seminars on music, the history of art, and the history of Brno,“ the official website states.

The programme also includes day trips to historical places in the Czech Republic.

The price of the Summer School is CZK 34,400, which covers tuition, accommodation, and half board.

The application deadline is July 5.
