Brno, May 9 (BD) – Employees of the Public Greenery of the City of Brno will begin renovating the fountain today, the official website of the City of Brno reports.
The scheduled cleaning and renovation are estimated to take about a week.
The fountain, which is 15 metres in diameter, was opened in 2006. The centre of the fountain is made up of a one-metre high cylinder with a diameter of five metres. A platform encircling the central cylinder features excerpts of poems by Brno poet Jan Skácel. The verses were selected from poems that speak of water, rain, and tears.
The fountain has an hourly cycle of ten modes that alternate every six minutes. Around sixty cubic metres of water run through the ‘Skácel Fountain’ for each month of operation, the tourist information website turistika.cz reads.
