Brno, May 15 (BD) – The conference was held in Brno from May 10-14 and was hosted by CzechTourism, the Tourist Authority of South Moravia, the South Moravian Region and the City of Brno, according to the official press release.

The conference included dozens of SATW journalists, photographers and editors, who had “twenty hours to capture the most interesting footage from the city and its surroundings,” reads the official website of the City of Brno.

David Swanson, who has done work for National Geographic Travel and the LA Times, was particularly struck by the beauty of the Jewish Cemetery, as is evident from his Twitter feed of May 12.

He also had high praise for the cafes of Brno, in part because of their ingenuity.

“Refreshing new one for us: espresso and tonic water on ice, served at Cafe Mitte, one more stop along Brno’s coffee trail,” Swanson wrote on Twitter.

While one of Swanson’s photos of the Jewish Cemetery won a prize for its detail, according to the city’s website, but it was a photo by Andrey Johnson that took home the prize for overall best photo (link), while Mark Downey was judged to have the best portfolio from the 20-hour period.
