If there is a way to spend a night on the town while at the same time engaging with the cultural life of Brno, nothing could be better than Museum Night. Photo: Pixabay

Brno Museum Night is an opportunity to explore the places that you might not have time for during the daytime because of your work schedule and other obligations.

This yearly event gives you a great chance to visit Brno’s museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions. The event takes place on May 19, when participating museums’ doors will be open from 6pm to midnight.

Some of the sites that you can visit are:

Industra (Masná 9)

Industra is a creative hub that brings projects from the Czech Republic and abroad to Brno. Its space combines art, science, education, and innovation.

As for exhibitions, it will be possible to see work of Robert Šalanda and Lukáš Machalický. The programme will also include workshops, lectures, presentations (in Czech), a design shop, and coffee tasting. The choir Illegato will perform from 8pm to 9pm, followed by a DJ set lasting until midnight.

You can find more information on the Facebook event page.

Gallery TIC (Radnická 4)

There will be a relaxed atmosphere in the courtyard of Gallery TIC, where you’ll be able to watch screenings, performances, and a workshop from comfortable seating.

Museum night events are intended to be an accompanying programme to ongoing exhibitions. Find more information here.

Museum of Romani Culture (Bratislavská 67)

The Museum of Romani Culture will hold workshops for children, such as painting on paper plates with acrylic paint, and guided tours of the exhibition Andrej Pesta Mire sveti (in Czech). Lovers of another art form may prefer to be in front of the museum – from 7pm to 9:30pm, Erika Fečová & Live Band will play R&B and jazz.

You can find more information here.

Moravian Gallery (Husova 18)

The Moravian Gallery’s programme is for visitors of any age, with permanent exhibitions and the current exhibitions 1968: computer.art and Ondřej Kopal No Drama.

The price of admission is voluntary. Last entry is at 11:30pm.

The detailed programme can be found on this link.

You can find the complete list of participating institutions on the official website.
