The Brno House of Arts always offers a broad collection of exhibitions, screenings and lectures, but unfortunately, not many of them are in English. But this spring, expat arts lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy part of the Brno House of Arts’ programme more fully. Two English speaker-friendly events are being held on May 24 and 31!

On May 24, videos by German-Norwegian artist Bjørn Melhus will be screened, followed by a discussion. Melhus is an artist whose work revolves around mass media and its relationship to viewers.

Freedom and Independence, one of his short films that will be screened at the House of Arts, is a film that “questions the current global ideological paradigm shifts towards new forms of religious capitalism,” reads his website.

You can find more information on Melhus and his videos on his official website.

On May 31, another English speaker-friendly event will take place – a screening of Vladimír Turner’s new film, followed by a discussion with the artist. The film will be screened with English subtitles.

Both events start at 8:30pm in the courtyard of the House of Arts (The House of the Lords of Kunštát, Dominikánská 9, Brno) and are a part of the accompanying programme of Angry Planet II: Operation Continues, which lasts until June 10.
