Brno, May 26 (BD) – This weekend marks the beginning of the art exhibition “Alfons Mucha: Two Worlds/The Slav Epic & Posters”, part of the RE:PUBLIKA Festival at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The exhibition will begin Saturday May 26 and will continue until December 31, 2018.

Visitors will have the chance to enjoy two different styles of work by Mucha, and the exhibition will consist of two different sections, “The Slav Epic” and “Collection of Posters”.

The Slav Epic section of the exhibition will include Mucha’s portrayal of the Czech and other Slavic nations’ histories, depicting solidarity amongst Slavic nations. Mucha’s “Slav Epic” made its first appearance in Brno in 1930 and is returning to Brno after 88 years.

The section presenting Mucha’s poster work includes not only his non-commercial art work and designs but also the posters he designed for advertisements. A collection of over 150 posters awaits visitors to the exhibition.

Brno will become the first city to host such a unique exhibition of the two very diverse styles of art created by Alfons Mucha combined into a single showing.

Moreover, there will be a film viewing section where short films on his work and the period in which Mucha lived will be screened. There will also be audio guides available to visitors in Czech, German and English.

Ticket prices for the exhibition are CZK 150 for basic admission, CZK 100 for discounted admission (children aged six to 15, ZTP card owners, seniors aged 60 and above) and CZK 300 for family admission. There is no charge for children under 6 years of age. Tickets can be purchased on Ticbrno.cz as well.

The opening hours of the exhibition will be from 10am until 8pm (10pm on Fridays and Saturdays until June 18). However, on opening day the exhibition will not open until 1pm.

Be sure to visit this unique exhibition, which presents art lovers with a combination of two diverse styles of work from one of the Czech Republic’s most renowned artists.
