Nowadays, the City of Brno has about a hundred different department and municipal company websites with different graphics, content, administration systems, and suppliers. This situation should change soon. On Wednesday, Brno City Council announced a public contract for the creation and operation of a new web platform for the city. Brno, May 31 (BD) – The beta version of the city’s main website could be up and running by the end of October or the beginning of November of this year.
“Brno will build a unique platform that will respect a standard online visual style. City districts and organisations will have access to this platform for free and will be able use it to update their sites with up-to-date content,” said Jaroslav Kacer, Deputy Mayor of Brno in charge of Smart City, ICT and Strategy, in describing the city’s intentions in the official press release.
“Citizens will get faster information and their satisfaction with city services will increase. We would like to reach the established gov.uk standard,” Kacer added.
The website is expected to be fully functional in roughly a year, by May 2019, according to the press release.
The usual number of unique visitors at the main municipal website www.brno.cz on working days is 6,000-7,000, and people view about 40,000 webpages on the city’s website every day.
Traffic on the city’s website reaches extreme levels as the deadline for municipal waste fees approaches in May – 12,000 to 13,000 visitors per day and 50,000 to 60,000 views per day, according to the official press release.
