The Brněnský Festival Dračích Lodí will kick off at Brno Dam, in Rakovecká Bay, on Saturday June 9. The Dragon Boat Race will again be one of the highlights of the festival. Spectators will witness exciting races on Saturday and Sunday as the competitors showcase their skills.
Teams for the race will have been drawn in advance. On Saturday June 9, the team captains will meet in the morning and receive their crews’ helmets and have the rules of the race explained to them. In the semi-final and final races, the teams will be matched up according to their performances in the preliminary rounds, a system which will also be explained to the captains at the meeting.
Participants and visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of food and refreshments during the event. Following the awards ceremony at 6.30pm, there will be a music programme and snacks starting at 7:30pm. Later at night, participants and visitors will be able to enjoy a colourful fireworks show to cap off an exciting day of racing (see the website of the event). Also, training on a “dragon boat” with an instructor will be possible.
On Sunday June 10, the teams will surrender their crew helmets, new teams will be drawn and races will start again, followed by another awards ceremony for the winners at 6:30pm.
Brněnský Festival Dračích Lodí takes place from Saturday June 9 at 9 am to Sunday June 10 at 7 pm, according to the Facebook page of the event.
