Brno, Jun 9 (BD) – On Saturday, June 9, Ghettofest once again entertains the residents of Brno. The festival features a variety of activities and events, presenting the multicultural texture of the city.

Ghettofest’s main motives are to open the imaginary “ghetto” of “Brno Bronx” to the residents of Brno and promote natural social encounters and co-existence in the city, according to its organizers. The slogan of the festival is “street festival for all”. It is described by its creators as a festival for everyone and does not focus on a single goal or point of view – it is a diverse platform for various activities, projects, performances and discussions, according to the description on the festival’s official website ghettofest.cz.

Being a festival that celebrates diversity, Ghettofest’s programme offers many different experiences, including dance and theatre performances, various workshops, film and different cuisines.

“This year Ghettofest offers full street culture – musical performances including local hip hop MC´s, graffiti jams and workshops. A special programme is prepared for Káznice (Old prison). There will be a unique sound and music programme made just for this event,” said David Oplatek from Tripitaka, the organisers of Ghettofest 2018.

“Now we´re focused on the local hip hop scene. We´re trying to include more people from this locality into the programme of the event. And the festival is now spread all around the locality,” Oplatek added.

A performance by Michailov, a local hip hop star with Ukrainian roots, is one of the must-see attractions of this year’s event.

Ghettofest is organised by Tiripitaka and Odjinud. The festival is open to all people who like to have fun in an atmosphere of culture and art and who are open to discussions on how to improve living in the city. The festival takes place today from 2pm to 10pm in “Brno Bronx”, the area around Cejl Street, according to the festival’s Facebook page.
