Brno, Jun 22 (BD) – The astronomical clock in náměstí Svobody, or as the city refers to it “the multifunctional clock machine”, is undergoing renovation work in the coming days. The work is scheduled to last only a few days, and the clock is expected to be back in operation next Tuesday.

“It has undergone routine maintenance before, which never included major repair works. Recently, however, there have been problems with the dropping of the glass spheres. It is, therefore, necessary to replace the electronic actuators and the glass parts showing the time,” said Tomáš Pivec, head of the works for the city’s Technical Network (Technické sítě) company, according to the City of Brno’s official website.

The clock has been working seamlessly for eight years since it was erected in 2010.
