This year, Ibérica Festival is celebrating its fifteenth year. The festival’s programme includes music and dance, concerts, a food festival, workshops, movies, lectures and so on.
June 27, from 5pm, the Colombian visual artist Zamo Tamay opens the festival with a free exhibition at Galeryje 9. From 7:30 pm onwards, at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU), the ‘fiesta’ will continue with a performance by two exceptional guitarists: José Maria Gallardo del Rey (classical guitarist) and Miguel Angel Cortés (flamenco guitar player). June 28, from 11am to 9pm in the Courtyard of the Old Town Hall of Brno, there will be a traditional “Fiesta Gastronómica”, with Ibero-American cuisine including Spanish tapas and wine, Valencian Paella and Mexican tacos, with the atmosphere spiced up with flamenco and salsa dancing. Entrance is free of charge.
June 29, in Špilberk Castle Courtyard, from 8pm to 10:30pm, there will be a Flamenco Gala Concert, where the two biggest stars of the festival will delight you with their performances: Paco Léon, flamenco guitarist, and Sergio de Lope, Flautist and Flamenco Saxophonist accompanied by his group and the flamenco dancer Gema Moneo. You can book your tickets here. Tickets purchased in advance (450 CZK sector A / 350 CZK sector B / 250 CZK sector C) are 40 CZK cheaper than on the door.
“Aside from concerts the Ibérica Festival also offers masterclasses and creative workshops. The range of creative workshops at SVČ Lužánky includes lessons in flamenco, Latino dance, tango and bachata. Musicians will give lessons in playing the cajón, flamenco guitar or the iconic castanets”, added Maria Cristina Roa, PR and Workshop Coordinator of Ibérica Festival.
