Brno, Jul 15 (BD) – Skopje is the capital and largest city of Macedonia, with almost 540,000 inhabitants. 40% of the country’s total production is concentrated in the city, with major cultural centers, and the seats of the Macedonian Parliament and Government.

The potential areas of cooperation are mainly in: the economic and business sphere; transport (especially public transport and the gasification of Skopje); environment; tourism; and education (support for Czech language teaching, exchange of secondary school and university students etc.), according to an official press release from the City. Mayor Petr Vokřál met with Miroslav Toman, Czech Ambassador to Macedonia, at the beginning of the year, to discuss the partnership between Brno and Skopje.
