Brno, Jul 18 (BD) – The purchase of new buses was carried out in three stages. The first cars were introduced at the end of last year. “I am glad that all 60 buses were delivered on time. I believe the passengers will appreciate above all the air conditioning in the coming tropical days. Our long-term plan is, of course, to use vehicles with air conditioning, whether trams, trolleybuses or buses,” said DPMB CEO Miloš Havránek in the official press release.
Another advantage of these cars according to Havránek is that they are low-floor and hence easily accessible for the elderly, mothers with small children, and the physically impaired. 60 buses cost around 498 million CZK.
The new buses will gradually replace the older types, mainly the KAROSA buses B961, B941, and Citelis 18m. “Half of the buses DPMB operates run on CNG, which is an alternative to diesel. In addition, the operation of these vehicles is cheaper and more environmentally friendly,” Havránek concluded. DPMB currently operates a total of 160 CNG buses.
