Brno, Aug 10 (BD) – Martin Středa contributed to the defence of Brno against the Swedish army. He encouraged the citizens to endure the hardship caused by the siege of the city and keep up their resistance.
Out of 27 entries submitted, the expert jury selected a shortlist of the three best. On Tuesday, the City Council chose the winning design, by Jan Šebánek, and approved it for installation. The 4-meter tall statue of Středa will be installed in front of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the corner of Jezuitská and Beethovenova, where Středa worked and was buried.
