Dry and hot weather is causing weak flow in rivers and low water levels in lakes across the country. Current weak flow in the Svratka River has resulted in a low water level in Brno Dam. Brno Transport Company (DPMB) is limiting boat transport from Monday 13 August due to the unfavourable conditions. Photo credit: @BrnoDaily.

Brno, Aug 14 (BD) – Under normal circumstances, boats run along the entire length of the reservoir from Bystrc to Veverská Bítýška. From this Monday, they will only operate between Přístaviště (the docks) and Veveří Castle, announced the official website of the City of Brno on August 13.

Boat tickets can be bought at the new ticket machine, installed at the docks in Bystrc earlier this year, and avoid the queues at the ticket sales booth. A return ticket to Veveří Castle costs 170 CZK. For more information, visit the DPMB website.

DPMB boats are powered by electrical engines, but locals like to call them “steamboats” [“parníky”]. The boat transport operates from April 14 to October 14, 2018.
