Brno, Aug 17 (BD) – On Tuesday, August 14, CD announced the tender for the delivery of up to 60 modern electric carriages with up to 240-seat capacity, and the same number of motor units with a capacity of up to 120 seats.

The winning bidder of the international tender will provide CD with modern, air-conditioned, low-floor 240-capacity electric units for the main traction systems in the Czech Republic. Up to three units with a combined capacity of 720 can be connected together to form one train controlled by one driver.

According to the official CD press release, passengers can expect modern electric and power units with modern, spacious, accessible-entry toilets, a bright and clear air-conditioned interior with ergonomically designed upholstered seats in 1st and 2nd class design, and, in many regions, Wi-Fi access, among the perks of the new carriages listed by Miroslav Kupec, the member of the Board of Directors of CD responsible for the engineering, service and property department.

The new train carriages will have also sufficient large spaces for strollers and bicycles. The trains could be in operation from 2019.
