The Znojmo grape harvest took place for the first time in 1966, to commemorate the visit of King John of Luxemburg, who came to Znojmo in 1327 after his successful negotiations in Wroclaw. Every year since then the harvest has attracted thousands of people to Znojmo. Visitors come not only for the wine and the famous half-fermented wine “Burčák”, but also for the excellent cultural program.

According to their official website, “the tradition of the Znojmo historical grape harvest was interrupted by the communist regime in 1974, and did not resume until the 1990s.”

This year the Historical Wine Festival will be held from 14th to 16th September. The organizers promise various cultural and musical entertainment with a unique historic celebration featuring more than 100 performances in 13 locations.

Historical parades through the town, historic taverns, marketplaces, street theatre, and most importantly great wine-tasting await you in the city of Znojmo.
