Brno, Sep 22 (BD) – Some highly unusual campaign videos and promotional attempts from candidates and parties to attract voters have appeared on social media as the regional elections get closer.
In one video, Petr Vokřál, the current mayor of the city and ANO candidate for Mayor, appears alongside young female dancers with his jacket and shirt sleeves rolled up and starts rapping. He invites and attracts citizens to join his crew with his shoulder dance as the video continues, and ends the video appealing for votes.
In another campaign video, ČSSD candidate Oliver Pospíšil pops out of a garbage container as a citizen is throwing her paper trash and starts telling her about his vision and campaign, which includes a proposal that retired citizens won’t need to pay municipal waste fees.
Another interesting promotional campaign is the competition organized by independent Senate candidate Petr Erin Kováč, in which people can win a washing machine by sharing a photo of themselves in front of Kováč’s campaign billboard.
Some slogans for party and candidate campaigns have also attracted interest in Brno. “We will make the Czech Republic richer” is the slogan adopted by ANO, the party of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. ANO candidate Kateřina Jarošová, a current deputy mayor of the Brno-Komín city district (which translates as “chimney”) is displayed on a billboard with the text “Kateřina wants a better chimney”. And the Czech Social Democrats (ČSSD) will distribute oranges throughout their campaign, as orange is the traditional colour of the party.
