Brno, Oct 12 (BD) – 59 umbrellas and 13 pairs of artisan Kometa-themed boots are now available in an online auction at “sportovniaukce.cz”. The auction will raise money to help children diagnosed with autism and people with mental disabilities.

Bidding will be open for the limited edition umbrellas until Monday, October 29. The starting price for the blue and white umbrellas is CZK 299, and the yellow umbrellas with boots CZK 499.

The installation and auction are organized by the DRFG Foundation, the Brno Diocesan Charity, and KOMETA Foundation Fund. “Many people need shelter and safety, which are symbolized by hanging umbrellas. We, therefore, help various groups not only to get a roof over their heads but also to create a home. The money raised in the charity auction of the umbrellas will go to people with mental disabilities and autism at the Home of St. Michael who have found a new, complete home there,” said Oldřich Hajčman, Director of Brno Diocesan Charity.

“The umbrellas on Česká were a wonderful idea from the DRFG Foundation and a nice and refreshing aspect of the centre during the summer months. The following auction of the limited edition umbrellas will help do more good and we are very happy to be a part of it and connect the KOMETA Foundation Fund with the Brno Diocesan Charity, who are already preparing other projects together,” said Lenka Plšková, Sales and Marketing Director of HC Kometa Brno.

“We are trying to help Brno back into the spotlight. The story of Kometa shows that it is possible, although the journey is often long. Colourful umbrellas over our heads, that’s our message for the Moravian metropolis: ‘Up, Brno!’, [‘Vzhůru, Brno!’],” said David Macek, director of the DRFG Foundation, referring to the Kometa fans’ song.
