Brno, Oct 17 (BD) – On the first working day in September, the police patrol had to “turn” six out of ten drivers. By mid-September, the situation had improved significantly, with about thirty percent of drivers not having a permit. However, this figure has not improved further.
At the edge of the historical centre of Brno, in agreement with the City authorities, the police were simply informing drivers about the new parking system until last Monday. One reason they waited until October 8 was the engineering fair, which attracts numerous visitors from other places who are unfamiliar with the new system. Furthermore, during the fair many police officers were on duty at the Exhibition Center, leaving the police without sufficient personnel to check the streets in the historical centre, explained Jakub Ghanem of Brno City Police.
