The first public unveiling of an amphibious ice resurfacer, developed as part of the participatory budgeting scheme, took place in Rakovecká Bay at Brno Dam on Friday, November 30 at 1 pm.

Brno, Nov 30 (BD) – The new ice resurfacer will adjust the ice surface of Brno Dam for skaters and also be used by the South Moravian emergency services, who until now have not had an amphibious vehicle of this kind.

The special ice resurfacer was one of the winning projects of last year’s participatory budgeting project, with more than 1,000 Brno residents voting for it.

The goal of the project, submitted in the proposal by Arnošt Petrů, was to create and maintain a treated ice skating trail of 1-2 km on Brno Dam. “In the winter, options for sports in the city are very limited. And skating on ‘Prygl’ is active, fun, healthy, and social, for athletes, families with children and dogs, for almost everybody,” explained Petrů.

When temperatures drop and the regular checks by the city police confirm that the ice is thick enough for safe skating (Brno Daily will publish the update), we can lace up our blades and go for a leisurely spin on the Dam!
