Lužánky municipal swimming pool [“Městský plavecký stadion Lužánky”] will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of its opening by throwing an unusual party. On December 9, the pool will be open to the public for free until midnight. Photo credit: Pixabay.
The night swimming will start at 6 pm, accompanied by music and a video projection. “As part of the 40th birthday party of Lužánky Swimming Pool, we’ll be swimming after sundown with only low lights, with music and a video projection. It will be romantic,” according to the event’s Facebook page.
The swimming pool at Lužánky is Olympic-sized; its building, with a unique roof designed by Ferdinand Lederer, has a capacity of 1,200 athletes and spectators. The pool has eight swimming lanes, and is equipped with a diving tower and several springboards. Swimmers can rest in the warm water of the spa pool or relax at the Aquabar. At the beginning of next year, a new ‘wellness area’ is to be opened in the Lužánky Swimming Pool building, with future plans for Lužánky to be developed into a complete water park.
The birthday program starts at 10 am and is family friendly.
