Czech Trade Inspection Authority Issues Warning After a Number of Counterfeit Smartphones Are Found in Brno Stores

The Czech Trade Inspection Authority (CTIA) has issued a warning regarding Christmas purchases of smartphones and smartphone accessories. The Authority has reported finding a large number of counterfeit phones in stores in Brno, on sale at full price. Brno, Dec 7 (BD) – Thousands of counterfeit mobile phones and accessories were seized by CTIA staff on Wednesday, December 5, in four shops in Brno, as first reported by the Czech television channel TV Nova.

“The case was reported by a customer who bought a smartphone at a store in Brno. At home, however, he found out that the phone was a fake produced somewhere in Hungary,” according to TV Nova.

A customer who unintentionally buys a counterfeit can request a replacement or refund. Suspicious sales can be reported to the CTIA via their website which is available in Czech and English.
