On Friday, December 21, Brno’s New Town Hall will be immersed in the Christmas spirit. From 1 pm to 6 pm the Town Hall will host an event called “Evropské Vánoce” [“European Christmas”]. Title picture: MMB.

On Friday, children will be able to take part in creative workshops and enjoy a cultural program; adults can do a good deed and donate food to the collection in the yard of the New Town Hall. Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková encourages visitors to take part in the food collection: “Anyone contributing to the food collection for people in need can get a ticket for a draw to win a small gift from the event’s partners, such as one of the Christmas trees in a flower pot provided by Lesy Brno. At Christmas time, we need to think about and help others more than ever.”

Durable foods such as patés, cans, sausages, biscuits or soups are especially welcome. Basic drugstore products would also be useful.

The name “European Christmas” gives an idea of what will be on offer for the smallest visitors. Six sites with creative workshops will be set up at the New Town Hall, inspired by the European countries where Brno has partner cities (Great Britain, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, France, and Austria).

In cooperation with partner organizations, there will also be an accompanying program. Zoo Brno will bring live animals and STAREZ-SPORT will create an obstacle run. Other contributors will include the Mahen Library, Brno Philharmonic, and the City Fire Department.
