egoé Basket Brno Wins at Ostrava
Brno found its winning stride when they travelled to Ostrava, winning 75-81 to break a nine-league-game losing streak.
“It was a very tough week for us, especially after some lost games,” said Brno head coach Christianos Chougkaz. “Congratulations to my players.”
Brno plays at BK Armex Decin (8-6) tomorrow (Thursday). Earlier this season, Brno beat Decin to build a 3-1 record.
In Ostrava, Brno (4-10) jumped out to a lead at the beginning and maintained it throughout the game.
Zdenek Nehyba had his best game of the season, scoring 16 points. He was a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range.
“Finally we started a game with good energy and very good concentration,” Chougkaz said. “It is always tough to play Ostrava. We were ready in our mind to play this game.”
Reggie Keely landed hard midway through the first quarter and limped off the court in visible pain. He played another few minutes, but his seven points and three rebounds were half of his normal contribution.

egoé Basket Brno’s next home game is on Dec. 29 when they host Chougkaz’s former team, USK Praha.

Žabiny Brno Third, KP Brno Fourth at Holiday Break
The ZBL reached its holiday break with ZVVZUSK Praha (12-0) still undefeated and BS DSK Basketball Nymburk KV (9-2) in second place. Then two of the Brno teams are in good positions: BK Žabiny Brno(8-3)
Žabiny Brno flexed its muscles last week. The team won its CEWL game against UBI Graz, 92-49, on Wednesday; beat SBŠOstrava, 100-53, in league play on Saturday; then beat Ostrava again in the Czech Cup, 122-62, on Sunday.
American Marques Webb led the way in the weekend double-header against Ostrava, scoring 20 points in the first game and adding 22 points and 15 rebounds in the second.
Žabiny Brno hosts TTT Riga on Jan. 3 in anEWBL game. They start the 2019 league season at Sokol Hradec Kralové on Jan. 5.
KP Brno will resume play at home against DSK Basketball Nymburk on Jan. 5 at 3:30 p.m. It will be the first home-game appearance for the team since head coach Martin Pospíšil took over three weeks ago.
Teamstore Brno hosts BLK Slavia Praha on Jan. 6.
