Brno, Jan 10 (BD) – The limitations to train transport due to the work on the security system and railway infrastructure at the main railway station will last for more than a year, and passengers will use the other Brno stations, including the Lower Station. The city is, therefore, planning to improve the facilities there.
Eight new “exhibition containers” will be placed there at the turn of April and May. The surroundings of the station will be revamped, including adding more greenery.
The exhibition containers will serve as information stands, waiting rooms, and bathrooms. There will be spaces for food trucks and bike sharing, exhibitions, and a Czech Railways information board.
Between the streets of Rosická and Košťálová, the wall and fencing will be removed, and the area revitalized with greenery.
Lower Station will also see new benches with plugs for recharging mobile phones and computers and a zone with a wifi connection. Two containers will then be leased to regional start-up companies for their own presentations, for a month each at a symbolically low price.
The investment plan was approved at a meeting on 9 January 2019 of the City Council of Brno. The estimated cost is 3 million Czech crowns.
