At a meeting on Wednesday, Brno city council recommended that the municipal government (zastupitelstvo) approve amendments to the city’s Territorial Plan, required for the construction of a proposed new wing at Brno’s Úrazová nemocnice [“Trauma hospital”]. Visualisation: LT Projekt a.s. //MMB.

Brno, Jan 17 (BD) – Last November, the city council approved a proposal to change land use regulations in the Ponavka area, in order to permit the construction of the new wing. The city’s Spatial Planning and Development Department has since prepared the required documents in readiness for the process to begin. According to Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík, the changes should take around a year to be completed.

The new wing, which will have eight floors, will be built on the site of the current car park, and will be equipped with new operating theatres, as well as a heliport and new technical facilities. The plans also include new replacement parking facilities: “Part of the building will be four floors of car parking space, with a capacity of 160, which will replace the previous capacity of the ground-floor car park. This will increase the number of spaces available for patients and visitors,” said Hladík.

The estimated total cost of the construction of the new wing, including equipment, is just under CZK 463 million, excluding VAT.
