Brno, Feb 1 (BD) –  Incidence was highest in the Brno-City, Brno-Outer, and Hodonin Districts, where it was around 2,000 per 100,000 inhabitants. The highest number of cases were found among pre-school children and young adults, which is typical for an emerging flu epidemic.

According to Dr. Renata Ciupek, the spokeswoman of South Moravian Regional Hygiene Office (KHS JMK) and author of the weekly report, the medical recommendation is to “follow the principles of hand and airway hygiene. If possible, avoid crowded or busy areas. In case of illness, pay due attention to your treatment and do not ignore the symptoms.

The South Moravian Regional Hygiene Office releases updates on the occurrence of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) across the region every Friday. The figures are based on reports from 186 General Practitioners for adults and 106 General Practitioners for children across the South Moravian Region, who together have almost 427,000 patients.
