Brno, Jun 27 (BD) – Every summer, numerous summer cinemas pop up in the city, so that movie-goers can enjoy the warm weather with excellent films.

This year, the Summer Cinema organised by the City of Brno (Letní Kino Brno-střed) will begin this week, on June 28, and will last until August 30.

The season will start with the showing of “Heavy Trip”, which is an English-friendly Finnish film. Beforehand, the opening ceremony of the Summer Cinema at 8:00 PM will feature live music from Brno-based band, Panracek.

The programme for this year’s summer cinema will feature both mainstream and indie films, ranging from local and foreign productions. Movies will be played in their original language, with Czech subtitles as an accompaniment.

Recently released English-language movies such as “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “A Star is Born”, and “Loving Vincent” are among the lined-up films, along with classics “Se7en”, and “Interview with the Vampire”. Czech, German, Mandarin and Nordic-language films are also offered for this year’s programme.

During the months of June and July, the showings will begin at 9:30 PM; while in August, showings will start at 9:00 PM. Tickets can be bought half an hour before the showings, and are priced at CZK 100 – however, German-language productions will be priced at CZK 50.

Those who would like to watch movies more frequently may buy tickets for 6 movie-showings at CZK 450, or 10 movie-showings at CZK 690. The summer cinema will be open and playing films, regardless of the weather.
