Brno, Sep 1 (BD) – Going back to work in September doesn’t always feel great. But you know what might help? A week full of fun and interesting events! This week the main themes are food and music: hamburger and spicy food festivals, a science festival, and the rock band Evanescence are all coming up in Brno this week.

The key to quality authentic Italian food is all in the ingredients, and the attention with which they are grown and selected. If you are tired of pale imitations (I’m looking at you, “Spageti Bolognesi” and “Fetuccini Alfredo”), from Tuesday to Sunday you can sample and buy real Italian products on Náměstí Svobody. The stalls open at 10am; you can find more information on the Facebook event page.

On Thursday, find your black coat and put on some eyeliner and your favourite net gloves: Evanescence are performing in Brno. Fans will be able to hear all the band’s most famous songs (My Immortal, Bring Me to Life and others) as well as songs from their latest album, “Synthesis”. You can find more information on the event website or on the Facebook event page (in Czech).

Prefer local bands? On Thursday and Friday you can get down to Agrofest 2019, and enjoy what the underground punk scene has to offer. Tickets start from CZK 300 for one day and CZK 500 for both; you can find more information (in Czech) on the Facebook event page

The world around us is amazing and filled with little hidden secrets that most of us would never discover. To guide us on our journey towards knowledge in a fun and interactive way, on Friday and Saturday more than 20 institutions will gather at Riviera for the sixth edition of the South Moravian Science Festival. The festival is open from 9am to 6pm, and is free to attend. You can see the full program (in Czech) here

Has all that discovery made you hungry? From Friday to Sunday you can satisfy your cravings at the Burger Street Festival Brno 2019 in Ve Vaňkovce. The grilling will begin at 10am; you can find more information on the Facebook event page

Now after those hamburgers you must be thirsty, right? From Friday to Sunday you can refresh yourself at the microbrewery mini-festival on Zelný Trh. Several small breweries have been added since the last festival; you can find more information on the Facebook event page

Want to see an ancient King and Queen give their blessing to a charming small town? Well that happened in Oslavany over 800 years ago, but on Saturday you can see it with your own eyes,  when the moment is reenacted as part of the 21st Oslavany Historical Festival. You can find more information (in Czech) on the Facebook event page

If you are looking for a completely different kind of concert and celebration, on Saturday the Starobrno brewery is celebrating its birthday with a huge event, including beer, the HC Kometa hockey team, and the band Chinaski, among other things. You can find more information (in Czech) on the Facebook event page

Some like it hot, others like it extremely hot. If you are one of the latter, you will love the Chillibraní & Chilližrout 2019 – Festival milovníků pálivého [Hot lovers Festival] at Riviéra. On Saturday, you can find live cooking shows, spicy and not-so-spicy food, and much more from 11am. And if the weather is good, don’t forget to bring your swimsuit! Tickets start from CZK 110; you can read the full program on the festival website or on the Facebook event page..

“19 races, 250 cars on the grid and 150 racing teams”. That’s Masaryk Racing Days, which will take place at the Brno circuit on Saturday and Sunday. The racing program this year will also include the BOSS GP Formula Car Championship. Tickets start from CZK 200; you can buy tickets and find more information on the Autodrome website.
