Brno, Oct 31 (BD) – With its aura of mystery, the Inca civilization has always attracted interest across the world, from scholars and the public alike. The “Treasure of the Incas” (“Poklad Inků”) exhibition features one of the greatest collections of gold treasure in history. In an area of over 2,000 sq.m., more than 100 original gold ritual artifacts will be on display, including golden cans, masks and magical pieces of jewellery brought directly from Peru. The Peruvian President personally approved the loan of the exhibits.
A large collection of objects from the National Museum and the Moravian Museum complete the exhibition of 1000-year-old original American gold artifacts.
For the Incas, gold was the symbol of the sun and its positive life-giving energy, and a gift from the gods without material value. For the Spanish conquerors, however, gold meant only wealth. “Treasure of the Incas” also explains the dramatic events of the conflict between the Incas and the invading forces.
The exhibition has already been seen by tens of millions of people all over the world. From tomorrow, it will open to visitors in Brno.
