Brno, Aug 14 (BD) – According to the latest report of Eurostat, EU Statistical Office, published today (August 14, 2018), that analyzed sold ice cream production in the EU member states in 2017, Germany was the largest producer of ice cream with 517 million litres or 16.5 % of the total EU28 production. Italy, famous for its “gelato”, came second with 511 million litres or 16.3 % of EU-produced ice cream. Italy was followed by France with 466 million litres or 14.8% of the EU28 total ice cream production.
The data shows that the Czech Republic is the tenth largest ice cream producer in the EU with 44 million litres of the popular summer sweet treat.
In the entire EU, incredible 3,138,873,061 litres of ice cream and other edible ice treats were produced in 2017.
