Brno, Sep 21 (BD) – The premises of the former prison, infamous for its use by both Gestapo and Communists for torture and the execution of political prisoners, will now serve its neighbours to improve community relations. “We have been working here all summer and now we want to present the space where the “Colors of the Brno Bronx” project will be realized. The premises will be used for painting, working with clay, singing, dancing, writing, reading, meditating, and staging theater,” reads the description of the opening event on Facebook.

Colors of the Brno Bronx is a three-year project hoping to help solve the problem of social exclusion in the district nicknamed the Brno Bronx, consisting of Cejl and its side streets. Colors of the Brno Bronx will be operating the former penitentiary, borrowed from the City of Brno, until October 2020. In the future, the building should transform into a museum and fully functional modern creative center.
