Brno, Oct 5 (BD) – The International Engineering Fair with over 1,600 exhibitors and 80,000 visitors every year is rightfully the most important industrial fair in Central Europe.
The 2018 edition that finished today was looking back at the engineering legends of the Czech industrial past and gave a glimpse of the future of technology. Visitors witnessed the presentation of the fourth industrial revolution in today’s companies. The fourth industrial revolution is building on the third, the digital revolution that has been occurring since the middle of the 20th century. The current fourth revolution brings a fusion of technologies and blurs the borders between the physical, digital, and biological spheres.
The companies, universities, and research institutions presented numerous industrial robots. Visitors could see robotic bartenders, robots that solve Rubik’s cube, or the robot – sculptor. The “Kuka” industrial robot sculpted several Otakar Španiel’s 1928 statues of Masaryk in front of spectators during the fair.
The exhibition named “100 Stories” in Pavilion A celebrating 2018 Czechoslovak centennial featured unique interwar cars with aerodynamic designs, first Czechoslovak humanoids inspired by Čapek’s novel R.U.R., the first car made in Brno – Omega, or the millionth produced Jawa motorcycle.
