Brno, Nov 19 (BD) – The mugs are decorated with simple black-and-white pencil drawings of animals. The mugs are adorned with cats, dogs, or carp, the popular symbol of Czech Christmas. The animal drawings are accompanied by speech bubbles typical for comics. The cat, for instance, is asking: “Do you believe in God?” and the dog appears next to the text “Place!”.

Brno residents may have seen several of Timo’s creations in the past in public places. He creates street art paintings, often accompanied by short poems or political slogans (“Miloš Zeman? Not in my backyard!”), or plays with famous logos, such as changing the Albert supermarket chain logo near the Central Station into a sign for the Albertina gallery in Vienna.

Last year, the design for the mugs was created by local Brno artist Vendula Chalánková (see photo).

This year’s Christmas visual style was again created by the Pixl-e studio, as in previous years. The visual theme of kaleidoscopes from previous years will be replaced by “mirroring” as the main graphic motif this year.

The Christmas markets in Brno will open with the tree illumination ceremony and a large video projection in náměstí Svobody on Friday November 23 at 5pm.
