The idea of a Colombian film night in Brno came one day as “I wanted to show different stories from my country, stories that are not so easy to find here and are different to those commonly known from Netflix, allowing people to explore a whole culture,” explains Armando Mendoza, the main organizer of the event and a designer by profession.
Mendoza didn’t hesitate to set the ball rolling: “I contacted some friends in Colombia for some advice about how to make it happen, using their experience with these kind of events, and that’s how a few months later I’m hosting this event, with an interesting story from our beautiful island of Providencia in their native Creole language.”
The Story – Bad Lucky Goat
After accidentally killing a bearded goat with their father’s truck, two incompatible teenage siblings embark on a journey of reconciliation. Corn and Rita will have to figure out how to repair the car before the tourists of the family hotel arrive. In their search for a solution, they will visit a butcher’s shop, a pawnshop, and also a warlock, in a 24-hour adventure around Port Paradise.

Practical
“People don’t need to register, just show up and chill out,” said Mendoza, adding that the event is possible thanks to the cooperation of the Colombian Embassy in Vienna: “They helped me to get the rights to screen this unique film and the opportunity to share our culture with Brno citizens.”
