Brno, June 15 (BD) – Senior Bus is a transportation service targeting senior citizens over 70 years old and disabled citizens – holders of ZTP or ZTP/P cards. The service is provided within the area of city of Brno and the flat rate is 50 CZK. The service is provided during the whole week and holidays from 6 am to 10 pm and requires booking in advance.
Today, the third vehicle starts operating to satisfy the high demand for this service. The charge will remain the same, 50 CZK for a single journey for both the senior passenger and one accompanying person. The third vehicle is designed for transporting people in wheelchairs.
The SENIOR BUS service started operating in Brno in June 2016 in cooperation with DPMB and the Department of Social Welfare of Brno City Hall. By this day, SENIOR BUS has offered rides to more than 8,500 passengers.
Brno Municipality stated that the demand was so high and the drivers had to decline almost 30% of applicants. Two vehicles were obviously not enough compared to the high demand from senior citizens and the new one was required to provide better service and make their daily lives easier.
