Brno, Jun 28 (BD) – “Thanks to the current prime minister, the communists are once again coming to power. It is necessary to remember the country’s history,” says Hana Strašáková, the organizer of the gathering by Together Brno.
Taking place at Náměstí Svobody, attendees lit candles and placed wreaths at the Plague Column. A small exhibition on the communist regime in Czechoslovakia between 1948-1989 garnered the attention of those present, causing them to think about the country’s dark past.
Representatives of the Brno City Hall spoke on stage, including the First Deputy Mayor of Brno, Petr Hladík (KDU); Róbert Čuma (Piráti) and David Grund (ODS). The gathering was also attended by representatives of the Roma Museum in Brno, historians, and those who witnessed the grim history of communism.
