Brno, Aug 26 (BD) – Several bicycle sharing services are already operating in Brno, and now locals can also use electric scooters. Brno becomes the second city in the Czech Republic with a shared rental electric scooter service, after Prague. In Prague, the scooters are run by Lime, whereas in Brno the fleet of blue scooters has been put in place by Bird.

“Bird gives you access to shared personal electric vehicles (scooters) that can be picked up and dropped off anywhere,” explains the app (for Android, iOS). If you enter the password “BRNO”, the first ride is free. The city’s designated driving area is limited to the city center, the western part of the city that covers Technologicky Park in Kralovo Pole, and the Kampus area in Bohunice.

According to the application, Bird is “currently available in 100+ cities and universities worldwide”, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington DC and Vienna. However, neither Bird’s app or website include information about its presence on Brno streets. There has been a negative response from the municipal authorities to the company’s lack of communication with public offices.
