Brno, August 6 (BD) – A part of the land under Turany airport in Brno was sold to a private investor. The situation may block the development of the airport and cost billions of crowns. The regional government plans to bring the case to court, Lukáš Valášek wrote for Czech daily Idnes.cz.
The Zajic family owned according to the Land Registry 16,000 square meters of land just below the landing and take-off runways of Brno airport.
The Czech state, the previous owner of the lands, transferred the same property to the South Moravian region. The curious situation resulted in a dual ownership.
The Zajic family repeatedly requested rent or compensation from the regional government. The public authorities ignored all submitted requests.
Turany airport land was sold to an investor for a fragment of its estimated price last month, Valášek reported on July 31 in Idnes.cz.
The Zajic family, its members are in retirement age, was tired of sloppy attitude of the responsible authorities. The family was trying to resolve the dual ownership with the region for over 10 years.
Michal Horký, the owner of the TOP1TAXI taxi service in Brno and investor confirmed that they plan to take over their right to the disputed land under the airport from South Moravian region.
Mr. Horky claimed that his lawyers have recently discovered documents that prove the Zajic family had the exclusive ownership over the land.
County officials countered in the past that Zajíc family admitted that they could not prove who the land actually belonged to.
Petr Beneš, head of the Property Department of South Moravian Region explained that the contemporary owners could not legally sell the land until the case of dual ownership would be resolved.
It turned out that the statement was not true since Michal Horký was registered as the owner of the land by cadastral office.
The South Moravian region now plans to take the dispute to court, Idnes.cz reported last day of July.
Many similar cases have occurred in the country, as until 1993 there was no comprehensive land cadastre.
