The great Svitava Riverside fest returns for its third year of music, beer, and community at one of the best waterfront locations in Brno. ‘Festival na nábřeží Svitavy’ takes place at various venues along Svitava riverside. You can look forward to a rich program full of music and entertaining activities for both adults and children.
The main stage of the all-day cultural and social festival is between Černovice and Komárov, near the Masná street. The other parts of the Svitavy riverside such as the urban areas of North side, Central side, Tuřany and Židenice will host the side events.
“The theme of this year is ‘Lively Svitava’. We want to show the residents and visitors of the city of Brno that thanks to the Svitava river, they have in their close vicinity a piece of real nature”, Ing. Ladislav Kotík from the team of organizers explained. The festival is a volunteer, grassroots effort of Brno citizen communities.
Guided tours, archery, locomotive rides and more…
Visitors will be able to enjoy cycling alongside the river, an archery spot in the Komarov area, a rest zone, children’s playground, and workshops at Industra Centrum. A vintage steam locomotive will also take visitors for rides.
Through guided tours, visitors can explore the history of the River.
Theater lovers will have the chance to watch tailor-made theatrical performances using the area around the river in cooperation with Brno’s Feste Theater.
The day will be dedicated to handmade products and clothes, too.
Music and Svitava fun rafting
Music couldn’t be missing at the festival. Many bands and artists will perform at the event. The bands Fancy Foxx and Jáma s hranostajem will perform some English songs as the organizers informed us. “Regarding the event for English speaking audience, I could recommend for example our music bands performing at the main stage. Some of them are using english texts (Jáma s hranostajem or Fancy foxx) or Neckyáda in the Svitava river”, Ing. Kotík told us.
Wondering what “Neckyáda” means? Neckyáda stand for a fun water event. People ride home-made decorated rafts, often in entertaining disguises.
A great mix of food vendors and trucks will dish out the goods.
