Brno, August 31 (BD) – Zaslat.cz is a start-up company founded by Miroslav Michalko. “I did not know what to do with a couch. It was not big, so I didn’t want to pay a moving service. At the same time, I realized that most people did not know an alternative to the Czech Post for transporting parcels,” the founder shared to iDnes.cz.
This is how his business came to life. At the start, they dealt with 50 orders per week on average. Now they deal with more than 2000 per week. The service offers shipping to whole Europe. “Shipping outside the EU is still a problem as custom duties must be paid, so for now we can offer Europe limited services”, the entrepreneur explains for iDnes.cz.
The company is transporting all sizes of parcels and the parcel can be picked up from any place the sender requests.
The most busy period for the company is just before Christmas. Most often they deliver Czech sweets, ornaments or Becherovka to the UK. The most peculiar shipment they had to deal with was a three-ton printing machine.
However, the project does not come directly from Michael’s idea. He thinks more analytically than creative. So he found out how similar services work abroad. New Zealand and Australia have been a great inspiration for him.
But he was not the only one who was thinking about the same problem in the Czech Republic. “When we started, there was five more similar companies. One started even two weeks before us. In the end, they have all disappeared and one of them has been bought”, Michalko says.
Miroslav Michalko believes that a big advantage when starting the company was also the fact that it is based in Brno. According to him, the local environment is more welcoming for starting entrepreneurs than Prague.
