Brno, Sept 15 (BD) – Today, Friday 15th, the heating starts working in all houses in Brno – three weeks earlier compared to last year.

Starting from today afternoon, residents will be able to turn on the radiators and heat their houses. Brno heating plants which supply heat to almost ninety-five thousand households decided to start the heating season. “Last year, we started on October 4,” Renata Diatková, the heating plant engineer, reminded.

The early supply of heat was decided by the Heat Plant Chiefs due to the sudden cold weather. “Temperatures have not fallen below the limit set by the law yet, but at the weekend the weather will cool down and it will start to rain,” Diatková explained to the newspaper Denik.cz.

The heating plants are obliged by law to start heating if the average temperature is less than 13 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days starting from September 1.

Meteorologists expect the temperatures to fall and rain to come tonight. On Saturday, it will gradually begin to rain across the South Moravian Region. “The highest daily temperatures will be between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius,” Ivan Zaluska from the Brno branch of the Czech Hydro-meteorological Institute said to Denik.cz today.

It is not clear if citizens will have to pay tangibly more for the early heating. “So far, we cannot evaluate it. We do not have a weather outlook until the end of the year. It can be warm in October,” Diatková clarified.
