Brno, Oct 20 (BD) – The Urology Clinic of the Faculty Hospital in Brno has started to use this year the most innovative device to proceed with Lithotripsy. The best advantages of the new method are the almost painless procedure and no need of general anesthesia.
Lithotripsy is an intrauterine procedure, that uses shock waves to disintegrate stones located in the bladder, kidney or ureter. After breaking it to pieces, the stones are expelled from the body together with urine.
The Piezolith 3000 Plus stands out from the equipment normally used in Lithotripsies because it is a portable and cheaper device that lasts longer if compared with other technologies used for the same effect. Also, the procedures with Piezolith 3000 Plus are less painful to the patients.
“The [Piezolith 3000 Plus] uses automatic directional orientation, X-ray and sonographic imaging to produce highly efficient and precisely targeted piezoelectric shockwave pressures up to 126 MP and energy up to 140 mJ,” Beatrix Křížová wrote in the official statement.
Yearly, the Urology Clinic of the Faculty Hospital in Brno executes more than 1.000 times this procedure.
The urinary tract stones is a very common illness that affects a lot of people. Here we leave some good tips to help you in its prevention:
- Drink at least two liters of water per day;
