Brno, Nov 15 (BD) – Do you want to take some time off and enjoy culture in Brno, but have already visited all the museums the city offers? You can find a list of ongoing exhibitions which will add more variety to your Brno experience.

The Art of Enamelling / The Enamelling Technique: 31.10.2017 to 3.6.2018

The first exhibition of the history of enamelling and its various techniques of such an extent in Czech Republic, hosted by the Technical Museum Brno (TMB)!

At the exhibition you can see the historical development and a whole range of enamelling techniques, the varieties and the ability to adapt to the actual trends of the given period and culture.

Tip: Only during the first month of the exhibition, October 31 till November 30, 2017, the replica of the crown of the Holy Roman Empire will be on display.

The second part of the exhibition focuses on technical or the industrial use of enamel.

In addition to that, exhibition shows restoration of historical objects decorated with enamel, presents works of contemporary artists and includes an interactive part for both children and adults.

The museum prepared the exhibition in cooperation not only with local institutions but also with foreign ones like British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Cyprus Museum and Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien.

Welcome to the Neanderthals: 2.12.2016 – 31.8.2018

A fascinating ability to survive in severe environment of Pleistocene Europe / Our predecessors in a new light.

Long-time research of Middle Paleolithic in Europe shows unequivocally how the image of mentally limited Neanderthals struggling everyday for survival is false, meaning we have to change our beliefs essentially. Luckily, we can do so at museum Anthropos Pavilion.

Through the most important finds originate mostly from the territory of Moravia, the exhibition shows the everyday life of Neanderthals and their fascinating ability to survive in severe conditions of the entire Pleistocene Europe.

The exhibition is based on models, reconstructions and audio-visual elements demonstrating in a dynamic and interactive way the behavior of the Neanderthals.

Divided into five sections, it presents unique items and interesting exhibits.

Must see: a realistic model of the whole figure of a Neanderthal made from silicone, as well as the original remains of Neanderthals from Moravia and Slovakia are exhibited for the very first time.

The exhibition has been prepared in cooperation with the National Museum Prague and the Tatra Museum Poprad.

Buildings as big as Brno. From fortification to prefabricated concrete buildings: 1.6.2017 – 31.12.2017

Come to visit the medieval and the modern times and see the development of the Brno city buildings at Brno City Museum.

The topic of this exhibition (Stavba jako Brno) is symbolically determined by the construction of the city walls – on one side, its fundamental characteristics of the medieval town, and the development of prefabricated concrete buildings as „contemporary“ walls on the other.

The exhibition is divided into parts representing a church, city walls, a burgess house and a castle (fortress) and various building trades will be presented.

The last part will present the development of the modern living in the 19th and 20th century.

The functional replicas of the medieval crane and rammer from the 15th century placed to the castle’s exterior form an attractive feature of the exhibition.

One tribe: 24.9.2017 – 31.12.2017

Find yourself in a fantasy novel!

One tribe (Jeden kmen) is an art project with a story in which creatures known to most humans as goblins come alive.

They call themselves Uruki and at the exhibition the visitors will look deeply at the everyday life of a tribe called Snaga.

The exhibition of photographs and story passages will present the tribe camp, the visitors will experience fight and hunt along with the gladiators. If you like original fantasy novels and you would like to visit a naturalistic world of a wild tribe, then this show is perfect for you!

The exhibition is not suitable for kids under 12 years.

Specialized guided tours in English and Russian languages: 30.11.2017 – 7.12.2017

The Moravian Regional Museum invites you at free guided tours in English and Russian languages at Dietrichstein Palace (map).

The tours will be held from 30th of November to 7th of December 2017, from 3 p.m to 4 p.m. in English and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m in Russian.

The first is an exposition on the topic Central European Crossroads: Moravia in the 20th century.
The museum project reflects major events of dramatic history of 20th century with an emphasis on historical space of Moravia.

In a context of the history of Czech and the whole Central European lands, thematic areas such as politics, culture, social history, institution, cultural phenomena and important personalities will make you feel closer to Moravian history.

The second tour is an exhibition on the topic is Praise of collectibles: 200 years services of Moravian culture and science.

Phenomenon of “collectibility”, the desire for knowledge and the collection of material documents from history, art and nature led to the creation of cabinets of curiosities and natural landscapes which later became museums. This exhibition is devoted to the 200th anniversary of founding of the Moravian of the Land Museum.
