Brno, Jan 24 (BD) – The handrail was installed in December 2017. The railing has been hindering the way of people going to the tram stops directly from the main station and to the Letmo shopping center.
Pedestrians now must use the infamous Brno’s underpass or go to the pedestrian crossing in front of the post office building.
“We have approved the intention to remove the railing and create a pedestrian crossing to the station’s main building and to the Letmo shopping mall,” Deputy Mayor of Brno Petr Hladík wrote on his Facebook on Tuesday morning.
“STOP the dangerous and absurd crossing over the inadequately installed railing at the central station. […] This is great news not only for Brno locals, but for all users of public transport,” he added on Facebook.
Many people have been complaining that the new railings complicate the movement of pedestrians and passengers at the central station and contribute to the occurrence of potentially dangerous situations.
The handrails will be dismantled this spring, if the representatives of police or public won’t have any serious objections, according to online daily iDnes.cz.
