Railway repair will limit the traffic at Brno Central Railway Station and affect nearly 300 transport connections per day. Trains will depart from the so-called Lower Station [Dolní Nádraží]. Today, a new information office at Central Station starts providing information on summer closures.

Railway repair begins June 3, 2017 at Prague viaduct, Central Railway Station platform number four, and the section from Central Station to Židenice. 170 million CZK construction work and related closures end September 10, 2017.

“The reconstruction will affect not only the regional transport but also long-distance and interstate connections.” said Jiří Sysel, director of Czech Railways Regional Business Center in Brno. Summer railway repair will complicate traffic on international lines, fast trains, and busiest regional lines.

During the three-month closure most trains will stop at Židenice Station, Brno Lower Station, Královo Pole, and at the bus terminal at Zvonařka.

“One of the main changes is that the international trains from Prague and Břeclav will depart from Lower Station of Brno. Special bus services will connect Central Station and Lower Station.” informed Sysel.

Brno City Transport Company will enhance the frequency of connections from Židenice and Královo Pole Stations. New timetables of Integrated Public Transport System (IDS JMK) will be introduced for the time of Central Station’s closure, official website of City of Brno reports.

The majority of passenger services in the Czech Republic are operated by the state company České dráhy (Czech Railways).
