Brno, Feb 1 (BD) – Every month a new piece of artwork. ‘Artotéka’, a new service of Moravian Gallery, gives people the opportunity to borrow original artwork of Czech and foreign artists.
‘Artotéka’ was introduced 3 months ago and it “offers the opportunity to borrow original artwork for private apartments, interiors of public institutions, and offices,” the official website reads.
“Borrowing of artwork much like a library. Those who register can borrow up to three pieces at a time. Students pay discounted fees. People can keep the artwork for up to six months, ” said the Moravian Gallery spokesperson Michaela Paučo, according to Brnensky Denik.
Registration is free of charge. The basic fee for one rental is CZK 50.
The ‘Artotéka’ collection features mainly graphic art, drawings, watercolors, photographs, and collages, but it also includes larger paintings on canvas. You can borrow artwork of artists such as Vendula Chalánková or Jiří Franta. The catalogue can be found here.
“Our goal is to make the way to art easier and to show people that it is available to everyone,” Paučo explained. In the first three months, 120 people have used the services of ‘Artotéka’ in Brno, Brnensky Denik reports.
‘Artotéka’ is located in the library area of the Moravian Gallery, on the 3rd floor of Pražákův Palác on Husova street. It is closed on Mondays.
