Brno, Feb 8 (BD) – Drivers are well aware of the dangers of driving in winter weather conditions. Yesterday afternoon, the South-Moravian Fire Department (HZS JmK) reported an increased number of traffic accidents due to continuous snowfall. From 10am to 3pm, HZS JmK reported 15 traffic accidents.
“From 1pm to 5pm we recorded further 14 accidents, in which eight people were injured,” Jan Dvořák, spokesman of HZS of the South Moravian Region said.
“At 13:12, we received information on an accident between a truck and car in the forest on the road connecting Břeclav and Valtice,” Dvořák said.
“We had to pull the driver and passenger out of the car. Four people were taken into the care of rescue services,” he described.
The snow is expected to continue on Thursday morning. On the weekend, the temperature should drop down to -4°c at night, but skies will be clear and sunny.
